How To Create A Cigar Dynasty - The Padron Family

Dynasty

Main Entry: dy·nas·ty

Pronunciation: \'dÄ«-nÉ™-stÄ" also -ËŒnas-tÄ", especially British 'di-nÉ™-stÄ"\

Function: noun

Inflected Form(s): plural dy·nas·ties

Date: 14th century

1 : a succession of rulers of the same line of descent
2 : a powerful group or family that maintains its position for a considerable time

There are few families that can be considered dynasties. The Padron family is one of them. A talented brood that boasts a children's book illustrator, a classic guitarist, a college president, and a famous jazz musician, you'd think there wouldn't be room for any more genius. However, there is one more member of the Padron family who has taken the family appellation to new heights- Jose O. Padron. If you know anything about cigars, you know that name. In this industry, cigar lovers look up to their founders and Jose Padron is headmaster at the school of cigars. The Padron family has been cultivating their knowledge since 1850 and teaches perfectly the importance of quality over quantity.

Emerson's Cigars (www.emersonscigars.com) operates five retail stores in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia but also has an online store. Emerson's offers a wide selection of products including the hard-to-find Padron cigars. When we last checked their site, they had Padron Series, Padron 1926 Anniversary, Padron 1964 Anniversary, Padron 1926 Limited Edition, and (much to our surprise) Padron Family Reserve in stock.

Padron Family Reserve 45 is extremely hard to find, especially at the reasonable price that Emerson's Cigars offers. If you have the chance to get your hands on a Padron Family Reserve #45, you better act fast. From the Emerson's website- "Released once a year, this Nicaraguan puro is a celebratory cigar in anticipation of Padron's 50th anniversary. Rumor has it the blends in these cigars are the same made ONLY for the Padron family. A hearty Maduro or beautiful Natural wrapper, aged TEN years, helps give this full-bodied cigar its bite but it becomes a bit less intimidating throughout the burn. Don't miss this one."

The Padron Family is most certainly a leader, in all accounts, in the cigar industry and their product is hailed as one that bears the highest quality and demands the most respect. So please, don't let this amazing experience go uncharted. Emerson's Cigars is a perfect place to begin your journey. We can all be part of the Padron Dynasty.

Is this a good "Humidor Filling" purchase for a starting cigar hobby?
Roomie got me hooked on cigars, and I'm looking to purchase my first Humidor and stock for it. I do not know much about brands (yet) or sizes, but I googled around and found some suggestions... tell me what you think! Isla Del Sol Gran Corona Onyx Reserve #4 (Square Pressed) Tatiana Vanilla Classic Tube (I like flavors too!) Those three cigars would be filling up a 50-cigar humidor. I figured a bigger was better, so I can have more "aging" at one time.

Can you recommend a cigar?
My 3 favorites so far: romeo y juliete reserva real, same cigar in maduro, and onyx reserve. I know smoking is bad for me. that's why I do it in moderation. If that's all you have to say, it won't be considered an answer.

What's a good cigar to try out?
So I'm a novice cigar smoker, only started back in April. I had a pack of dried out knock-off Montecristos from a buddy and they were decent, but rather acrid. So I started buying my own, a couple a week, but I've only tried Onyx Reserve maduros, and I like them a lot. I'm looking to expand my knowledge and experience, any suggestions what to try? There's a really good cigar shop in my town, I just don't know where to start.
