A History of Cigar Store Indians
Hundreds of years ago, Native Americans introduced tobacco to Europeans. In doing so, Native Americans quickly became advocates of the tobacco industry. It became part of their society. Smoke shop owners used Cigar Store Indians to show people who couldn't read where to buy cigars.
In the 1600s, Cigar Store Indians began to appear outside of European tobacco shops. Since European craftsmen had never seen a real-life American Indian, their representations were more fictional-looking than realistic. When the Cigar Store Indian made its way to America in the 1700s, they began to look more authentic.
Current Uses For Cigar Store Indians
Even now, you'll sometimes see a Cigar Store Indian sitting outside of a cigar store. But these eye-catching statues are now used less as an advertisement for a tobacco shop, and more as ornaments that celebrate tobacco's rich history. Though various people view these statues as a stereotype of American Indians, Cigar Store Indians represent a big part of the tobacco business. Some statues are happy and inviting, while others appear to be trying to scare away intruders or thieves. In any case, throughout the years, Cigar Store Indians have become synonymous with the tobacco industry.
Our Design and Manufacturing Process
While some Cigar Store Indians are made of cast iron, most are made of wood. We use the highest quality mahogany wood for our Cigar Store Indians. Our artisans use axes and mallets to shape the figure, and a chisel to add the finer points. Our artisans paint each statue by hand, so that even the finest details are perfect.
Common Styles of Cigar Store Indians
We offer several types of Cigar Store Indians. From joyful figures, to intimidating warriors, we have what you need. Many of our Cigar Store Indians even have empty palms, so that they can display cigars or any other item you'd like! A majority of our Cigar Store Indians come full-size at around 6 feet tall. I need help picking/finding a cigar humidor?
So I've started getting into smoking cigars, but to tell you the truth..I probably only smoke a cigar or two every 2/3/4 weeks...more so when i'm on vacation, but yeah very light social smoking. Anyway I was thinking about picking up a humidor so I can start a collection, and not have to visit the cigar store everytime I want to smoke a cigar.
Anyway, I'm looking to spend less than $80 on the humidor and whatever accessories it needs. I'm looking for something that's easy to set up and maintain as well, and as for look options...I just prefer it be black. I'm thinking 25 capacity should be fine, but a friend of mine told me it's much better to have a 50 capacity (not sure why though, maybe you could tell me).
Anyway for you cigar aficionados, can you make some recommendations on a humidor and/or site I should go to that would best suit my needs? Thanks a bunch.
~Gavin
p.s Other things I'm curious about..analog vs digital hydrometer? if its outside/inside make a difference?

What is the date on the issue of TV Guide magazine from Seinfeld - The Cigar Store Indian?
Frank Constanza said the issue was "volume 41, number 31" but I don't understand the meaning of this. If it's of any help, the episode was first aired on December 9, 1993. Also, Elaine stated on the show that the guide was "two weeks old". I want to find this issue and buy it, as Seinfeld memorabilia.

Now that we are getting into the meat of the matter, what exactly is poetic morphology?
*****
SIGNING OFF
It never occurred to me,
or the cigar store Indian,
the TV test pattern and tone,
back when the world's all black and white,
was anything more than an intricate
pen and ink rendition
used to test the clarity of the signal.
Socio-symbology aside, who ever wore
a cooler hat than the Cherokee?
*****
Both, Don. The word I wanted to single out was 'signal.'

Calling all Cigar Aficionados - Some Monte Cristo help needed?
My stepfather has requested some Cuban cigars for xmas and I found out from my brother that he likes Monte Cristo.
But when I went into the cigar store....holy crap there are so many types! Type 1-7, Punch, Hoya.....I have seriously no idea where to start - I don't even know how long he plans to age them either.
I am also limited to how much I can carry though the airport (I can get away with 500g)
Which Monte Cristo's should I get and about how many of them will total 500g?
Oh yeah, I am in Jakarta, Indonesia and I have sourced the Cigars from a specialist cigar shop at a 5 star hotel. I just dont know which ones to get!Stepfather is in Australia, travelling there tomorrow!
